Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor announces Art is Ageless® winners

Art Is Ageless® 2014 Winners

Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor recently held a reception for the winning artists in the annual Art is Ageless® juried competition.

“We had some really great entries this year,” said Tara Vanderpool, marketing director.  “It’s hard to pick just one great piece. All the artist are very talented.”[clear]

Winners in the Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor Art is Ageless juried competition were:

  • Best of Show: Eula Mae Martin, “Inspiration”
  • People’s Choice: Betty Jo Harris, “Butterfly”
  • Christmas: William “Bill” Bailey, “Lighted Christmas Ornaments”
  • Drawing: Jean Swanson, “Peek-A-Boo Bear”
  • Mixed Media: Dave Rhodes, “Where the Buffalo Roam”
  • Painting: Mel Smith, “Resurgence”
  • Photography: Chris Dancy, “Pansy Rose”
  • Quilting: Eula Mae Martin, “Childhood Memories”
  • Sculpture/3-D: Fred Taylor, “I Won”
  • Fiber Art: Minnie Olson, “Purple Passion”

Local competition winners will be featured on Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor’s website, ArkansasCityPresbyterianManor.org, and will join winners from 17 other Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America communities to be judged at the masterpiece level. Winning entries at the masterpiece level may be selected for publication in PMMA’s annual Art is Ageless calendar and note cards.

Art is Ageless, open exclusively to people age 65 and older, is a copyrighted program of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years. Artists not interested in competition were invited to enter the Art is Ageless exhibit only.

Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s Art is Ageless program encourages Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year.

Started in 1980, Art is Ageless is an extension of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s wellness programs, which focus on mental, physical, social and spiritual health. Residents and friends of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s Art is Ageless program are proving that art, in any form, is an ageless ambition.
