Newton Presbyterian Manor residents created dozens of stuffed animals for first responders to share with children they encounter while answering emergency calls. The hope is that the stuffed animals will help calm and comfort children in crisis situations.
The animals were presented to the Newton Fire/EMS Department at an ice cream social held in their honor.
“We thought it was a creative way to join them in their work and save the departments the cost of ordering toys for these situations,” said Melinda Ebersole, activities director.
Stuffed animals also were donated to the Newton Police Department and the Harvey County Sheriff’s Department.
