Topeka Presbyterian Manor announces Art is Ageless® winners

Topeka Presbyterian Manor recently held a reception for the winning artists in the annual Art is Ageless® juried competition.

“Art is Ageless really allows us to showcase the talents of our residents and seniors in the Topeka community,” said Marsha Anderson, marketing director.  “The diversity of entries is as exciting the quality of the artwork itself.”[clear]

Winners in the Topeka Presbyterian Manor Art is Ageless juried competition were:

• Fiber Arts (amateur): Mary Harrison, “Crocheted Names”
• Sculpture 3-D (amateur): Marge Atkins, “Hand Built Clay Objects”
• Photography (amateur): Charles Kennedy, “Granddaughter Love”

Local competition winners will be featured on Topeka Presbyterian Manor’s website, TopekaPresbyterianManor.org, and will join winners from 17 other Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America communities to be judged at the masterpiece level. Winning entries at the masterpiece level may be selected for publication in PMMA’s annual Art is Ageless calendar and note cards.

Art is Ageless, open exclusively to people age 65 and older, is a copyrighted program of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years. Artists not interested in competition were invited to enter the Art is Ageless exhibit only.

Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s Art is Ageless program encourages Topeka Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year.

Started in 1980, Art is Ageless is an extension of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s wellness programs, which focus on mental, physical, social and spiritual health. Residents and friends of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s Art is Ageless program are proving that art, in any form, is an ageless ambition.
